Sultanate of Oman

The National Museum Oman

The National Museum, Sultanate of Oman, was established in 2013 and is the Sultanate's flagship cultural institution, showcasing the nation’s heritage from the earliest human settlement in the Oman Peninsula some two million years ago through to the present day.

Philip Simpson Design developed a coherent and aspirational graphic scheme for all 14 permanent galleries in this new National Museum, along with orientation signage and wayfinding symbols and maps. Literature about the galleries and text hierarchies in Arabic and English were also our responsibility, as well as taking care of an Arabic Braille script to go alongside the interpretation – a first for the Middle East.

Our graphic team worked closely with Jasper Jacobs Associates to take care of the graphic design development for the whole place, including DDA access compliance consultancy.
